TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE OF THE HEART 2010
Last night was a good night. I was one of the estimated 1.5 billion people who had the opportunity to witness a rare astronomical event that comes every few years: A Total Lunar Eclipse.
A Total Lunar Eclipse occurs when the Earth enters an orbit directly between the Sun and the Moon, thereby blocking the direct sunlight on the Moon and giving the Moon a beautiful, red glow.
The last Lunar Eclipse I saw was in 2007 when I was working with Sylvia Massy of Radiostar Studios in Weed, CA. We were recording / producing the album "IGNITE" for Econoline Crush and the entire studio (all five rooms: Studio A-E) emptied out and caravanned up to the top of Mt. Shasta.
Last night's Eclipse lasted an estimated 72 minutes and was visible from Northern California (Lincoln, CA) through scattered clouds... it was a beautiful sight, and brought back primal memories from a time before time began.
According to a recent Famecrawler Blog, the next lunar eclipse won’t be until 2014!
